A one-time performance from Mercy College, students, faculty, and staff! On April 3, 2017, Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon facilitated a "Poetry as Performance" workshop at Mercy College. Dr. Williams-Witherspoon is Poet, Playwright, & Anthropologist from Temple University Participants learned storytelling through the lens of an award-winning poet and performer and created a one-time only show. Dr. Williams-Witherspoon has won the PEW Charitable Trust fellowship in scriptwriting and the DaimlerChrysler "Spirit of the Word" National Poetry Competition. She is author of several books and has over twenty-three plays produced. Her poems can be found in twenty-six poetry anthologies.

Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon's Poetic Ethnography class' presentation of "A Chronic Intractable Longing," featuring the class of Spring 2020. This class creates a space for social engagement and seeks to further develop our understanding of the use of choreopoem, which is a genre of narrative theater that has increased in popularity alongside Hip Hop and Spoken Word.
